Crispy batter; fresh cod; fat chips; sarson's vinegar; served in newspaper. Yum. God there are days when I miss England

Know how you feel Adam. Maybe I'll post a new picture of fish and chips every Friday. And don't forget the mushy peas.

fish and chips on friday? I like it.

It could be a whole new tradition.

I could extend it to recipes for batter, reviews of different brands of vinegar, analysis of the health benefits of fish and chips, discussions of how mushy peas should be, debates on cod vs haddock, scientific tests on the right temperature for the oil, gastronomic tours with reviews of famous fish and chip shops, investigation of whether you can buy good fish and chips in Spain or Australia...

I might need a whole new blog.

Quick, I must go and register all the good fish-and-chip domain names.

I already grabbed Fish Sticks. I like where this is heading.

Hey. It's not a competition.

Oh, I could help with a lot of that ... exactly what sort of fish, my own very special batter recipe, adapting recipes for high altitude, and a review of a place in Albuquerque where the proprietors produce fish and chips every bit as good as any I got in England the year I lived there.

I'd have to stay out of the debates about the peas, however. Pat hates peas about the same way you hate broccoli.

Great Carol Anne. Maybe you could be a guest blogger here some Fridays in the upcoming, soon-to-be-hugely popular, blockbuster series on Fish on Fridays.

Maybe I'll do what Adam did with his Top Ten Sailing Songs and run a competition on Top Fish and Chip Shops of the Worlds. (Hmmm, now what would I send out as prizes for entrants....little sachets of malt vinegar?)

With your help we have to be able to get the top Google search ranking for "Fish on Fridays" ahead of Joe Rouse and all those religious sites.

If you're subbing for Joe it's fish and CHICKS, not chips.

Puffin, your wish is my command. No sooner said than done.
