Mary Rose Grounded

Hmmm.

It really was windy around here this morning. About 10am, the 65-foot Herreshoff schooner Mary Rose broke free of its moorings in Bristol Harbor and went aground on Love Rocks.

Oops.

That's not good.

Even if the VW was: ducky

What damage was there?

That's what you could do, Tillerman, get a job as crew on a sailing machine like this! They might need some help. Ask them.

Uh, you didn't post this anonymous comment to the newspaper's web site, did you?

Another example of a Yacht gone bad. Yachts have a long history of drifting aimlessly and running aground. Much better to have a dinghy.

LOL O Docker. I did see that comment but it wasn't me. Honest.

Frankie, a "little voice" told me not to sign up to crew on this yacht.

On the other hand ...

Just try to get a Laser to stand upright like that when you ground. (And if you find out how, let me know, please. I've already tried every way I can think of.)

Listen again!... you were on the wrong line!!!!

Frankie. I am not in the least bit interested in crewing on some rich man's yacht. It's just not my thing.

Old boats need new mooring rigs.

Crew for us and you most certainly wouldn't be crewing on a rich man's yacht!

Tillerman said...

Exactly Pat. I'm not averse to crewing for a friend for a day's cruise or racing. I'm just not interested in being employed as a hired hand to pull bits of rope for some rich playboy.

It was an interesting story; overseas owner who was somewhat willing to share the boat with the museum folks and the public, a worker accidentally riding the boat almost into Nate Herreshoff's backyard, and the boat coming to rest in a soft spot between a couple of rocks with apparently no serious damage in spite of breezy conditions.
