I was inspired by your S&G post, Baydog. I'm going to keep this theme going in the titles until I drive myself or all my readers crazy whichever comes last.
And to answer your first question, yes S&G were big in England back in the day.
I liked the first three albums, but really became a big fan because of Bookends which came out when I was in college. And then Bridge Over Trouble Waters came out during my first year after college. All the songs on those two records still send chills down my spine and bring back many nostalgic memories of my youth.
Once I've exhausted titles based on S&G lyrics I may have to move on to some of the early Paul Simon solo stuff. Again it was the background music to critical moments in my life.

You've really been feelin' groovy today, haven't you Tillerman? I know S&G were very popular in England back in the day.
