Who: David Wilkins, Michael Maguire (team manager), Kare Breivik (meteorologist), Ken Ryan, James Wilkinson What: Photo of them. When: 1980 Where: Moscow Olympic Games What's it got to do with sailing: It was Ireland’s only Olympic medal in sailing. The Irish duo claimed silver in the Flying Dutchman class.
Well this was an easy quiz. Easily solved with Search by Image Address on the Google.
But Litoralis did have some inside knowledge too.
From what I can gather Maguire and Ryan were both part of the management of the Irish team. Ken Ryan was "chef de mission" and was the flag bearer for the team in the opening ceremony.
The Irish Taoiseach (Prime Minister) Charles Haughey supported the US led boycott of the 1980 Olympics but the Irish Olympic Committee defied their government and sent one of its strongest ever teams with 48 athletes. Wilkins and Wilkinson won the silver medal in sailing (Flying Dutchman) and Hugh Russell won a bronze in boxing.
It is a little scary that you can track down a photo, and 'similar' photos, without entering any verbal description at all. I wonder if this is how Joe finds his wahine photos.
Maybe the strange green color cast of this photo made it easier for Google to find.
Alejandro Abascal and Miguel Noguer from Spain won the olympic gold medal in the Flying Dutchman class that year in Tallin, the sailing venue of the 1980 Moscow Olympics. This picture shows also interesting haircuts and sailing clothes.
Nice picture laserista trope. I did see a video of Alejandro and Miguel sailing at the 1980 Olympics. Quite spectacular style - and I'm not talking abut their sailing. Maybe I will post a link as a follow-up to this post.
This picture caught my eye because David Wilkins was a work colleague and a sailing friend of mine from way back when I lived in the UK. In fact I bought my sons' first Optimist from him and we were both members of Rutland Sailing Club for a few years before I moved to America. David sailed for Ireland at the Olympics 5 times which at the time was a record for any Irish athlete in any sport (maybe still is.)

I was hoping the image search would link back to your site. No such luck.
Mind you, Google's images search engine isn't cracked up to what it used to be. As demonstrated by the similar image results.
Right Joe. "Similar" often seems to mean similar in composition or similar in color tone.

But Joe doesn't post pictures of green ladies, does he?
Uh, what?
All I can say is the 1980s called and want their hairstyle back

Oops. That should be torpe not trope. Torpe means clumsy or goofy in Spanish, I think. No idea what trope means. Probably something rude.
Laseristatorpe.com is a blog about a goofy Laser sailor.
