I must admit I don't watch the races all the way through but I do like to watch the video highlights of stuff breaking. And I did like it when the Emirates boat did a nose dive and those two fellows fell overboard. And, in spite of the fact that we haven't had a single really competitive race yet, those boats are spectacular going over 40 knots on their foils.
I'll pay attention when international races 12-metre class boats again. Not these "Star Trek" boats plastered with corporate billboards for me, thanks.
Hmmm - if you are the lead boat and the boat following is getting too close, can you "accidentally drop" something in his way, hoping that he breaks a foil or rudder? Oracle seem to be practicing all the options. Have you also noticed that 3 of the top 4 skippers are from the Commonwealth! Just saying ..... "To finish first, first you have to finish..."
The America's Cup is named after a yacht. There is nothing that says it has to be run in America, or competed for by Americans, or that a team that has USA in its name has to be staffed with Americans.

That's what happens when you start foiling your Laser/Torch!

Hey Sam, isn't that our Flot?
I'd rather watch paint dry or grass grow than watch this spectacular AC debacle.

It's compelling viewing in the same sense that you can't turn away from a car crash or other disaster.
What's the final bill going to be per hour of racing? Will probably make space travel seem good value!
Exactly Luke. And I still live in hope that we may yet some real racing where boats stay close around the course and the lead actually changes.

You can watch 12 metre class boats racing in Newport. About a dozen of them raced at the Newport Regatta this summer.

All of the guys who actually helm the boats are from the British Commonwealth aren't they?
Oracle - Spithill and Ainslie (Australian and British)
Emirates - Barker (New Zealand)
Prada - Draper (British)
Artemis - Outteridge (Australian)
It's hard to know who to support.
Oops - my mistake. So tell me why is it called the Americas Cup again.... :0
Today, yet another breakage.
If New Zealand had entered an Opti or P-Class, they would still be 2 up and have saved a lot of money.
