Enough

Enough with the boring theorizing about why I'm not a faster sailor than I am.

Enough with the looking forward to some far distant date to go sailing.

Enough with the endless rambles about physical fitness.

Enough with whining about winter.

I'm off to Florida to do some Laser sailing with some friends and we're going to have warm weather and fresh breezes (in spite of what Weather Underground thinks) and we're going to sail all day and get sunburned and then sit by the sea and eat some fish and drink some beer and then drink some more beer and then sleep all night and then get up and do it again and again and again.

This blog is temporarily suspended.

Winter is finally over.

Gone sailing.

Enough.

Don't you know Florida is overpriced? You could come to New Mexico instead.

Oh, well, never mind ... have fun.

Yee haw! Zach Railey (Finn Medalist), who is from Floria, was giving a talk Tuesday evening of this week. He talked about how he loved to just mess around in the Clearwater channel (Tampa Bay area) when the tidal current worked against the breeze and the dolphins (porpoises) would surround his boat. One of our club members is dividing her year between southern NM and the Tampa Bay area, so we'll get regular reports.

Wait a minute...I'm a little slow on the uptake here. Is this your big solution to the winter training blahs?

Pack up your troubles in your old kit bag and fly to Florida?

*#@&*!!!

Not smoking - invoking - the most famous passage from the most famous novel of Ireland's most famous writer (funny you should ask on St. Paddy's).

Geesh, do I have to explain everything?

We'll be putting on a big regatta in late May. We're getting sponsorship bucks from the owners of the marinas at Elephant Butte, and they want to encourage participation from far away, to make this more than just a little local thing. We're looking at racing more than just the "usual suspects" of the regular racing fleet -- there will be fleets for racers, cruisers, multihulls, and, yes, dinghies.

Of course, in May, sailing weather tends to be nice even in northern climes.
