Austerity in Britain

Living in the Unites States as I do, I don't see much economic and political news from my home country, the United Kingdom.  But I am aware that Prime Minister David Cameron's government has been pursuing a program of austerity in an attempt to bring the UK deficit and debt under control.

I wasn't really aware of how badly this austerity program has been affecting ordinary folk in the old country until I read this post on Captain JP's log this week. Apparently things are so dire that the ladies on the rowing team at the University of Warwick can't even afford to buy any clothes in which to go rowing.

If you doubt this shameful truth then go and check out a whole series of similar photos here which document the sad state that Britain has reached as a result of Cameron's misguided economic policies.

Of course it could also be an unexpected side-effect of global warming - we mustn't jump to conclusions but research all sides of the question carefully.

Apparently the calender "already has 300 pre-orders from across the USA". I am wondering now how many of those came from Rhode Island.

In unrelated news, there has been an increase in the popularity of fishing on this river.

The rise in popularity of fishing is presumably because the poor people of England, suffering under the grinding heel of Cameron's austerity program, can't afford to buy meat or fish any more?

I only saw 11 photos. Why was one month held back? Don't tell me it was for taste!!!???

Judging by the captions on that website, it shows 7 photos from the 2013 calendar and 4 from the 2012 one.

For the record, it also appears that the Men's rowing team at University of Warwick puts out their own full monte calendar.

Our government told us they were wearing the latest hi tech rowing suits made from a material which is invisible to all but the intelligent and the rich.....

For that matter, it should be noted that Motorboating Girls for Breast Cancer Awareness go over the top in their fund raising activities. (Please excuse the expression "motorboating".)

I'm told that eliminating unnecessary weight in a boat does make it go faster.

And all sailors know the importance of a smooth bottom.

He's BAAAAAAAACK!

They would be well advised to grow kale and broccoli rather than go fishing. But yes, Cameron will only help those who wish to help create another bubble by buying real estate. Speaking of bubbles...

And it seems without a fouled bottom!
