Florida

A map that finally explains Florida.

Shamelessly stolen from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend on Facebook.

And if you come to visit, we are right in the middle of the "Tourist Trap". We have a couple of Lasers to loan. I lived 18 years with Jimmy Buffet and that is a great map.

Thanks for the offer Sam. I'd love to sail with you and your Laser fleet one day.

Please don't do California (my adopted state) next! Do Colorado (my native state)!

Ummm - in my experience, the whole of FL should be "old people land" - especially in the winter and really Lake County isn't too touristy - more Red necky! And yes - do come and join us at Eustis. How about Dec 13 & 14 for our District 13 Laser Regatta?

Señor Timonel, I also invite you to come sail with our growing SunCoast-DIYC Laser Fleet anytime you like. Actually, one of our future events will be in Lake Eustis with Sam and his bunch!!

What's going on in Laser Land in Florida in November? I'm thinking of BVI for December.

Lake Eustis Laser fleet races November 6 and 7 and then 20 and 21. If you come on another day we can find a PRO and put something together. Kiwiyates and his kids will sail with us. Then we sail all Wednesday afternoons in November.
Right now Wednesdays are 6 to 7:30PM.
November is a great time of year in Central Tourist Trap area. Bring Tillerwoman and she can help PRO.

Even if Jimmy doesn't live there any more, it could still be called something like the Conch Republic.

Carol Anne hasn't been to Florida since she was a kid and I've yet to see that side of the Gulf -- having grown up near South Padre Island, Texas.

I seem to gravitate to Florida for at least one trip each winter. Maybe it's living in the North-East?

Actually when I told my kids (then 8 and 10 years old) that there was a chance that we would be moving to America and asked them how they felt about it, they said, "It's OK Dad as long as we can go to Disney World." So we had to do that the first year after the big move.

Then I've also been there for Sunfish regattas and Laser regattas and running two marathons and a Rick White sailing seminar (in the Conch Republic) and two Kurt Taulbee sailing seminars, and various business conferences and meetings.

I've seen a lot of both coasts and the Keys and the Tourist Trap and the huge ass snakes area. Not made it to the Panhandle yet though.

Many good times...
