It's definitely not me
Thanks for the clues.
At first I thought maybe Joan Rivers had gotten another facelift.
Scott Callahan?
Not Burseldon Blogger, Joan Rivers or Scott Callahan.
Posted a third clue to help you narrow it down a bit.
I don't know who he is, but wow, the guy has some bushy eyebrows!
He does, doesn't he. And that might help. They are prominent on other photos of him that are out there on the Intewebs.
Loick Peyron
Not Loick - although he does have rather fine eyebrows too.
Bushy eyebros - must be Dennis Healey
LOL. Have always been a big fan of Dennis Healey. I remember he compared being attacked by Sir Geoffrey Howe in the House of Commons to being "savaged by a dead sheep." And he also coined the "first law of holes" which is "If you find yourself in a hole, stop digging."
Pleased to read on Wikipedia that Dennis is still alive. He must be 96.
But no, this is not him.
He must be the husband of The Knitting Sailor.
Great guess. But I don't think they are related.
I'm guessing Colin Newman. I must look up Dennis Healey. Is he hero to the Tories? Labor? or the middling Liberals? And what on earth did he do to get attacked in the House of Commons; famous for their verbal jousting, not so much for fisticuffs.
No. Not Colin Newman.
Dennis Healey was the UK Chancellor of the Exchequer (finance minister) in the second half of the 1970s. The attack from the dead sheep was verbal not physical.
And here is an audio clip of the "dead sheep" remark.

It's not Bora Gulari, either.
I just like saying Bora Gulari.
And it's not Rohan Veal either. Although they do have something else in common other than Moth sailing. That's a clue.
Posted Clue #6. Practically giving it away.
Eric, Yarg, or Jay? Bacon sandwich is not as good of a clue as you think because I first thought of my Nana Wagner.
No. Not Eric, Yarg or Jay. Or Nana Wagner.
Here's another clue. He doesn't usually call it a bacon "sandwich."
Tweezerman's guess is the closest so far. Very close in fact.
Did this sailor once attempt an Atlantic crossing with Ben Ainslie?
Not as far as I know, but then I don't know everything. The only connection I know with Ben Ainslie is that both of them won the same championship (about 5 years apart.) Who were you thinking of O Docker?
Come on you people. Stop doing your last minute Xmas shopping and focus on this quiz. Geeze, you got Fred A. Mabbett in fewer guesses, and he's been dead for over 50 years and never had a sailing blog. Show some enterprise. Pray for a Festivus miracle. I am an eternal optimist and know you will soon get it.
I was thinking of the sailor who owns a Caribbean island past which you sailed in this post.
Like Ben, he's earned an OBE and the right to be called, "Sir". He's one of the few people on earth who can afford a Moth, so I'm guessing he must have one.
And his eyebrows are bushy.
I assume you mean Richard Branson, O Docker. And no, it's not him. Sir Richard can not only afford to buy a Moth he can afford to buy more than one Caribbean island. Not content with his home on Necker Island (which he rents out at $65,000 a night) he is building a new home on nearby Mosquito Island. We saw the work in progress on our trip to BEYC earlier this month.
The man in the picture is not nearly as wealthy as Sir Richard. But probably more fun to go sailing with.
And Richard Branson never made one of my top ten sailing blogs lists. But this guy did.
I am surprised that O Docker hasn't got it yet. I see that he and Mr. Eyebrows actually left comments on the same post on my blog. You are virtual soulmates!
Ah, much easier now.
I'll just skim through the posts I've commented on in the past five years.
There are explicit clues. And there implicit clues. Sometimes I almost give people the answer and it's staring them in the face and they still don't get it.
Optimistic I'd say.....
Keep going dude...
You are on the right track...
Wow, the miracle of Festivus!
A quiz that should have lasted four or five guesses has lasted eight times that long!
Keep going O Docker. You are also on the right track.
Is it that Rooster Dude?
What Rooster Dude? Do you mean Steve Cockerill of Rooster Sailing? No. It's not him.
I am beginning to suspect that one reason this quiz is so hard for the participants is because the years in which the mystery sailor and I were actively following each others blogs and in which I was writing about him and putting him in my top ten list etc. may have been before some of my current readers were following this blog.
He then made some changes to his blog and started writing about stuff other than sailing and so for many years I didn't pay a lot of attention to his blog. Then he restructured his blogs to dedicate one to sailing again. But for some reason he then stopped writing about his sailing altogether (unless he is doing that on some other platform I haven't found yet.)
So I guess if you weren't following this blog in the first few years of its existence you may not have seen many of my posts about the mystery man. I think the last time I mentioned him in a post was probably 2010. But in the early days, his blog was one of my favorites and something of an inspiration for my own writing.
I guess that's another clue.
I have posted another clue here.
Stab in the dark...Ant?
Ding ding ding!!! Joe has it. It is indeed the SoulSailor - Ant Clay. Well dome Joe!
