Wet and Dry - Where am I?

Both these photos were taken today Sunday 9 March.

The air temperature was in the high 30s, with a blustery NW wind gusting over 20 knots at times.

Two very different groups of sailors went out to enjoy the sunny afternoon.

The two places are about 10 miles apart.

Where are they?

What color was the bear?

What did Tillerwoman have for dinner?

How many bloggers can you see in the photos?

Are those little white smudges on the horizon a clue?

The beer was brown.

The iceboating was on the south watuppa pond and the sailing is in barrington. Right?

Ding ding ding. Preston has both absolutely right.

I was driving down route 24 in Fall River this morning when I saw the iceboats on South Watuppa Pond so I made a diversion to the boat ramp and took some photos and video of the action. I've been living in this area for nearly 7 years and had never seen them there before. But I guess I don't often drive past there on Sundays.

Later I went for a long run on the East Bay Bike Path north from Bristol and spotted the Barrington YC Sunfish frostbite fleet across Jacob's Point Salt Marsh on the Warren River. I had known for many years that they sailed there but had never seen them in action before.

What a great day to be out on the water… or ice.

There is one blogger in the Sunfish photo.

Although has anyone ever noticed that Tillerman and MYCSunfish are usually in the Barrington-Portsmouth area, sail in all the same places, know all the same people, yet have never once been in the same room, or race course? Coincidence?

Tillerman is a fictional character invented by the real author of this blog. It has been clear to me for many years that most of the stuff that is written here about his exploits is pure fantasy. The whole blog is utter nonsense. That's why you have never met him Mr. Fleet.
