It's been a rainy week in Lake Wobegon...

Is this one of the Northern N.J. Sunfish Lakes?

This is Lake Hopatcong, the largest lake in NJ. And the picture was taken from Lake Hopatcong YC famous for E-Scows, Stars, Thistles and A-Class catamarans. LHYC also has a Laser fleet and a junior program of which I was proud to serve as head instructor for 3 years. Sunfish regattas have also been organized occasionally on the lake by the Sailing Association of North Jersey Lakes.

The event in the the picture is clearly nothing to so with sailing. It was taken from Woody Boater on a page which implies that the event is the annual antique and classic boat show at LHYC. It doesn't specify the date. Can any of my readers supply more details?

Found the same photo on another forum with a date of 1910, which seems to match the way people are dressed.

1910 is the year the new yacht club clubhouse was built, so that could explain the big turnout. The photo looks to be taken from the second floor of the clubhouse.

Interesting that the clubhouse was originally budgeted for $3500 but ended up costing over twice that. Not much has changed since 1910.

Thanks O Docker. Looks like I was way off the mark with my assumption that this photo was something to do with the antique and classic boat show which I think is much younger than 100 years old. The boats in the photo would certainly be "classic" and "antique" now but were probably the newest and fanciest and shiniest boats on the lake when the photo was taken.

The "new" 1910 clubhouse is a unique and magnificent building, even more from the inside than the outside in some ways. I've never seen another yacht club that's anything quite like it.
