What Am I Up To Now? (With 10 Clues.)
This weekend I tried a new sport…
1. I have never done this before in my life.
2. I did it with one of my sons. He had done it before.
3. I wasn't very good at it.
4. But I had this feeling that with a little tuition and a lot more more practice, I might one day be good enough to enjoy doing this.
5. After two sessions, I looked up the sport on the Interwebs and discovered I had been doing some of the basic things totally wrong. Duh! My son didn't even tell me. Bad boy!!!
6. There's an element of danger if you don't follow some basic safety rules.
7. it doesn't require quite as much equipment and special clothing as sailing does.
8. This sport has a combination of tradition and technology - a bit like sailing.
9. It's a sport at the World Masters Games. Woo hoo! If I work at it I could be a masters world champion! (Let's face it. I'm never going to be a world masters champion at Laser sailing.)
10. One of the bloggers I follow has been trying it recently too.
Can you guess what sport it was?
If I took up this sport on a regular basis, I would probably want to blog about it. What would be a good title for such a blog?

I cheated a bit and looked at the website to see what the sports are. Must be archery.
But nowadays the high-tech equipment looks quite formidable. About ten years ago I went to a world championship and it was breathtaking to see how accurate they were. Like Robin Hood is in the films.
Well done KR. Yes, it was archery.
My "accuracy" wasn't exactly breathtaking but I can definitely see how people get hooked on this sport.
And here I thought it was Kite boarding
I was thinking the same thing -- kite boarding.
Kite boarding!!! I have no illusions that I would be any good at kite boarding however much I tried. And I don't think it's in the World Masters Games, is it?
Anyway, any suggestions for good names for an archery blog?
Straight to the Point
Hey, I just started arching too!
Well, technically resumed after a 30 year hiatus. There was a summer I was doing a bit of shooting, the summer of 85 I had a job as a counselor at a summer camp that had an archery range. Counselors were allowed to go shoot on our breaks once we'd been through a session with kids where we learned the basics. First lesson at Gotham Archery I discovered that I'd been doing it all wrong, of course. I'm getting better. Need to go practice again soon!
ps I like Tillerwoman's name. Although somebody should start a yoga blog just to use Baydog's name.
Baydog's name is a great name for a yoga blog. There's already someone using Yoga-na Love This on Twitter. But I don't think there is a blog by that name. And the domain name yoganalovethis.com is still available. Hmmm!
Straight to the Point is a great name but what about Missing the Point. Sets the tone of a blog with self depreciating humor along with musings and meanderings. You know, the kind of thing you'd expect from a guy who has managed to hook his main on both corners of his Laser transom. Imagine the adventures a guy like that could have with a pointy arrow and a little target?
I know /Pam. I am dangerous enough in a Laser. I am amazed I haven't killed myself or anybody else or amputated any body parts yet. Although I did come close to the latter at least once.
But think what damage someone as clumsy and uncoordinated as me could do with pointy objects propelled at great speed.
/Pam, I do like Missing the Point. Story of my life.
I think I might call myself /RobinHood on my archery blog.
The Sailing Bowman
The sheet and the arrow
Once you reach a certain expertise you could call yourself the arch bishop.
Missing the Point by the Arch Bishop. I like it!
How about Talking Bulls-Eye!
Or, to be even sillier .....Getting Shafted!
And, for an archery advice blog ....An Apple A Day (by Wm Tell it all)!
Keep 'em coming Anonymous. Your comments are so creative that I am tempted to ask you to start writing posts for Proper Course. Then I could devote myself full time to Getting Shafted or whatever.
A few more ...sillier still!
Quivering With Joy
Splitting Crosshairs
I Love Vegetarians ( for Bowhunters only) ....think about it!
Straight As An Arrow (probably not politically correct)
or, if you prefer a rough tone to contrast the noble sport, I suggest Archy Bunkers'.
If I'm shooting then a better title might be Archie's Bunker.
