Looks like they are planning on extending the sides up, reattaching the deck and turning into a cruising boat. With the extra weight, I suspect that the word "dog" isn't strong enough to describe the saiing qualities. I won't even try to discuss how it will look.
This is sort of the opposite to chopped and channeled as we used to do to our cars.
I don't know, but don't you think the deck should at least be right side up? It looks like it would be awfully top-heavy. Why is a good question. Hey, wait a second....is that what the guy who bought my boat did with it?
Provided that the extended freeboard doesn't compromise stability, is the skipper banking on getting less wet? Shouldn't he get a bigger boat that he can poop on?
That's about the most close guess, Joe. And 'stunned and amazed' hits the nail with his remark: the proportions it will take are somewhat awkward and this is exactly why I made this temporary setup, to have a review before fixing all up. At least I will have the hull well dried out ;-)
Thank You for posting, Tillerman. Giving the attention to Kirby suspected to throw a new boat I thought to beat him by showing a bigger Laser with flush cockpit already. At the end the least what could be said is that the hull will be fully dried ;-)
The boat made it to the water ;-) Please see the pictures on Google+ via https://plus.google.com/photos/100416046068394961773/albums/5856425229371154049?gpinv=AMIXal8oRkg-k6azzsIUD4lMz7w0CVOlmZejsNTUXHo65Gk_CFwXGthdhqp4Jv0dCWG7TA4mAGQIwdlrK_-O7cZivkkEOaqvawt9jckf8HhSgUp9AjEjnBQ&cfem=1&authkey=CJX6ooDMm7XpJg
By the way - I enjoyed reading SailFast13 made it to Antwerp. Only some miles from where I live.

Looks like a Laser hull with the deck cut off and placed upside down on some plywood bulkheads.
I think you are right. But why? And how will it sail once it's finished?
Cruise-capable laser?

My guess is that he is using a temporary structure to hold the flipped deck so he can work on it. At least that's what I hope he's doing.
Credit where credit is due: the link to this photo was posted by commenter hetzeilen on my recent post Torch.

Two more suggestions received via email from one of my sailing friends...
Either a mold plug for a really cool dog house OR
A model for children’s play toy for a preschool playground
