Where am I?

Today....

1. I went Laser sailing.

2. Tillerwoman and I had some Blue Point oysters as an appetizer at dinner.

3. We saw some windmills.

Where am I?

Kinderdijk, Netherlands?

Good guess Harry, but not correct.

Clue #4: Our dinner companion speaks Dutch.

That picture looks like Kinderdijk in The Netherlands. But no sensible people are sailing their Lasers in Holland and blue point oysters aren't exactly native there either.

I must conclude that you and Tillerwoman were fascinated by that gorgeous (?) windfarm on Block Island.

Nantucket?

Portsmouth, Rhode Island

Baydog, good thinking. There is a famous windmill in Portsmouth.

But it was 31 degrees, blowing 20 to 30 mph, and snowing hard in RI today. Do you think I'm crazy?

Quite right Anon 7:54. No sensible people are sailing their Lasers in Holland right now. It wasn't exactly Laser sailing weather on Block Island today either. Do you think I'm crazy?

They speak Dutch in Nantucket?

Clue #5: The temperature where I was sailing today was 66 degrees and the wind was around 10-11 knots.

Aruba?

Do you want to rethink that question?

What a misleading photo that is.

I think you were at the Clearwater (Florida) Community Sailing Center, where the Windmill class is holding their midwinter championship regatta this weekend.

But, I've been wrong before. My backup guess is Fort McHenry.

You could have been somewhere like Florida and taken a photo of a painting in the restaurant where you ate your oysters. Genie

Bingo! The Sage of Sacramento, the Doyen of O Dock has done it again.

Of course the picture is misleading. It's just a generic picture of windmills. I never said it was a picture of the windmills we could see.

Aruba is a good guess. They do speak Dutch there I believe. Bur it's wrong.

Yes, we were in Clearwater and there were a number of Windmills at the Sailing Center on Friday getting ready for their regatta this weekend. And it just happened that one of my sailing friends, who joined us for dinner on Friday, is an American of Dutch ancestry who speaks the language. Another little bit of misdirection I confess.

And I understand that if we had stayed until Sunday we would also have been able to spot some snipe. Or should that be Snipes?
