I'm relieved that they have dickhead politicians too!

Take one look at them. THEY WERE THERE FIRST! The Aussies can find the proof in their name: abORIGINAL.

I am a bit out of touch with Australian politics so I just googled it and it appears that the big issue of the day is whether to "recognize" that the Aboriginal people were the first Australians. I'm a bit confused as to why this is an issue. Do Aussies think the Aboriginals migrated from Africa in the 1950s, or something?

Anyway, the Prime Minister says he might eventually getting around to drafting something or other on the topic by September but says it will need a long debate because something something comfortable something something unifying moment something something.

So, yes, you are right Baydog.

Ah, but if your comment about my comment can appear before my comment was posted, then anything is possible.

I will need to draft an explanation by September and then we will need a national debate because something something comfortable something something unifying moment something something.

Speaking as a white Australian, with proud convict ancestry (although tainted by a First Fleeter guard); and married to a proud First Fleeter convict descendant (although tainted by a Yorkshire mother), I must complain about that cartoon. We have flies, not flys and no true blue dinkum Aussie would say frickn’ if he meant bloody fucking.
About the Aborigine recognition topic – I’ll stay Anonymous. The poor bastards didn’t stand a chance against the British Empire 220 years ago and against Victorian attitudes when our constitution was approved by Westminster 114 years ago.

As an Aussie I was going to mention Cricket

But I leave Anonymous above

Speaking as a white Viking Englishman (although tainted by an Australian mother-in-law) I must say I agree with you, First Fleeter Anonymous. That map is totally offensive and wrong and politically incorrect. Just like a lot of other stuff on this blog.

Talking of "politically incorrect" from an Australian perspective, you might enjoy this which was posted on Facebook by a friend of mine a few days ago…

There's an annual contest at Bond University, Australia, calling for the most appropriate definition of a contemporary term. This year's chosen term was "Political Correctness." The winning student wrote:

"Political Correctness is a doctrine, fostered by a delusional, illogical minority and promoted by mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a piece of shit by the clean end."

I am forwarding the Bond U results to my nephew, teaching Political Philosophy at Essex College (UK) for discussion during his course. I'll keep you informed as updates arrive.

Speaking as a northern Californian, I have never like heard of this state of Australia before. Is it like anywhere near Alabama? No biggie, really, cause I'm not too sure just where Alabama is, either. But if there's surfing there, that's cool. Can't we all just get along, bro?

Is Alabama a country? I thought it was a Little Richard song.
