Another Ridiculously Easy Photo Quiz

Hello sailor!

Well, this man appears to be sailing, except that wheel looks to be at rather an odd angle, doesn't it?

Who can it be?

Well done Peter. Told you it was easy.

I think the wheel is set at right angles to the rudder post, but what about the chair in the right side of picture?

Tillerman said...

Yeah. Check out that chair. Those were the days.

I wonder if the chair had something to do with his lower body paralysis from polio. Maybe he couldn't sit normally behind the wheel.

This photo was taken in 1904 when FDR was 22. He didn't get contract polio until 1921.

And check out this photo of FDR sailing in 1933 (after polio) where he is still steering from the same position!

The boats get smaller every year. If you would be sailing now, it would be a Laser.

I think FDR would be looking for a "new deal" on an RS Aero.
