Singapore? My glasses aren't strong enough to make out indistinct features. Now, if they were distinct.....

The reason why you can't go there, as you and Luke have both guessed, is because there's some dangerous stuff there.
Another clue: this place is in the United States. Actually in one of the lower 48 states.

No Man's Land Island, Massachusetts. It's a former bombing range and is now a wildlife refuge. The indistinct feature is the former runway.

As I said, it was in plain sight. I mentioned in a nearby post that Scout, the robot boat, looked like it was heading directly towards this island.
The spelling of the island's name is a little confused. Wikipedia seems to think that the most plausible explanation for the name's origin is that the island was probably named "Nomans Land" after a Martha's Vineyard Wampanoag sachem, Tequenoman, who had jurisdiction over the island when the English came in the early 17th century: a corruption of "TequeNoman's Land."
