I am pleased to announce that any winner of a Tilley Award, that is anyone nominated to my list of Top Ten Blogs in any of the last three years or to today's Top Ten Sailing Posts Of 2007 Not Counting Any Posts By Bloggers On The Top Ten Blogs List Because Then Almost Every Post Would Be By Edward or Adam, is entitled to wear the prestigious Tilley hat as pictured above.
All Tilley Award winners are invited to a (virtual) party. Please post a photo on your blog of yourself wearing your Tilley, or send it to me via email, and I will be pleased to pull them all together into a grand gala awards ceremony party spectacular post, complete with red carpet.
You don't have a Tilley hat? Doesn't that photo above just cry out for a bit of creative Photoshop magic?
Anyway I and my Tilley hat are off to the Dominican Republic now for some sun, sea, waves, and lots of Lasering. Normal service on this blog will be resumed on or around 15 Jan.

Good luck at the Midwinters. Enjoy the good weather.
Have a great time in Cabarete...travel safe!
Now I must find a hat...
Have fun in the sun !!
If you see my hat floating around grab it for me. M
Woohoo! A party! Cool!
Lucky for me that my friend Stevie did actually take a picture of me wearing my summer hat, which is at least Tilleyesque, out at Breezy Point last summer.
Shorts. I was wearing shorts. Aaaah.
And speaking of wearing shorts -
Have a FANTASTIC time!
And how is it that the Dominican Republic has somehow been left off of the countries with internet access list? Are we to believe that a former CIO and parent-who-has-a-son-technical-enough-to-go-to-MIT doesn't have a laptop for remote blogging?
And I'm somehow attacked right and left for not revealing my plans for mid-ocean blogging?
Have a wow of a time.

Bien viaje, y buenos vientos -- have a great trip and fine sailing winds. January 5 (Saturday) was my first sailing day of the year, so some of us can feel smug about sailing in January.
I have emailed my photos. How come you aren't blogging from the Carib? In Bonaire I found a wifi spot that didn't even have a roof...the connection was excellent. Would like to see photos of you Lasering along.
Lucky you in Cabarete! And yes there is plenty of internet access cos I had no problem with internet when I was there! Great waves!!
I think I've mentioned before the reasons I don't blog on my sailing trips. It's a combination of
a) being too lazy to carry my (relatively large) laptop with me along with all the sailing gear.
b) feeling that I need a break from the Internet and computers and blogging occasionally and a sailing vacation is as good a time as any to take it.
c) usually being too knackered (colloquial British English for very tired) after racing all day to have much energy left to think of blog ideas.
But yes the hotel in Cabarete did have WiFi access and maybe one day I'll change my habits and blog from the road.
I entirely agree that blogging on vacation would be an enormous distraction and waste of valuable big-water tropical sailing time.
Instead, you should bring one of us along to follow along in a dinghy shotting pictures, taking video, and maintaining Proper Course.
Hey, Tillerman, welcome back!
Virtual post-sail beer over at Frogma. Come on over if you're missing the tropics!
It is now "on or around 15 Jan" and welcome back.
Yeah, I want my 15 minutes of fame!
I'm also waiting (impatiently I might add) to hear about Cabarete. Since I couldn't make it down this year I need to live vicariously through you.....At least I'll be in Terrigal AUS, too!
