Boulter's Weir Kayakers

When I rowed down the Thames last year there were kayakers at many of the wiers. Not for me - I can still remember being taken to Benson wier when I was very small and having it dinned into me how dangerous they are and never, ever go near them.
And wasn't it Boulter's Wier that Alec Guinness and his girlfriend drowned in when Dennis Price severed the painter of the punt they were canoodling in, in Kind Hearts and Coronets?
Best quote - "I was sorry about the girl, but as she had spent the weekend with him I assumed that she had already suffered a fate worse than death."

You may well be right about Boulter's Weir and that movie Chris. I'm not familiar with it.

Boulter's Weir is indeed dangerous. See for example the warnings here and the story of a near drowning on Hugh Kingdon's site, which is where I found this video.

Cheat the nursing home; I would rather die in my kayak

Brings back happy if chilly memories, never actually shot Boutler's but I spent many a freezing day on Old Windsor weir a few miles downstream with the school canoe club!!
