Tillerwoman and I went out to lunch today in Mattapoisett, Massachusetts.
We almost bought a house here back in 2007.
It doesn't suck.
Wait.
Can you launch a Laser here?
Is a Laser a water vehicle?
It's just a big sailboard really.
Right?

Photoblogger! I like it. You have a knack.
And is Pwasett or Poysett?
Definitely Poyz. We're in Red Sox Nation here Toto.
It's easier than writing something. For some reason, drinking beer in the middle of the day makes me lazy.
"We're in Red Sox Nation here Toto."
Ég skil það ekki.
"No Dogs in Park"?
Definitely does suck. That's a major league suck. Suck so big you can hear it. Sucking.
I disagree Doc.
I think the fact that the wise citizens of Mattapoisett have decided in their town meeting that they don't want dogs shitting all over their rather fine waterfront park is one of the many excellent things about Mattapoisett.
The owners can always be asked to pick up after their pets like the civilized folk at Forked River State Marina. I laugh, because I'm scooping one poop and there are a dozen within a 20 foot radius, the same size, from geese.
Tell us what you really think Doc! Really.
I don't know anything about the background to the posting of these "No Dogs Allowed" notices. But the Google did turn up this article from 1998.
Yeah! Really! Don't dog owners vote in Mattapoisett?
LOL. I never thought my pretty pictures of a quite bayside village in southern Massachusetts would stir up the National Dog Owners Association on the Right to Poop issue.
Whose the chubby dude? Maybe the parents could give their kids who don't float the chubby dude to hang on too.I went sailing there last week. Yes you can launch a laser. We also ate at the Shipyard Inn. Don't get the Lobster Bisque. The waiter oversold it :>( "DEEELICIOUS!" NOT! It was way too salty and had no lobster (was advertised with TONS of lobster).
The beer was good though.
The chubby dude was the boss of a crew that was hauling a very large yacht out at the boat ramp. Quite a crowd gathered to watch the process which was rather impressive. Chubby dude was standing there like that most of the time communicating with hand signals to the helmsman of the yacht as he maneuvered on to the trailer. I could have done a photoblog on that story too I suppose.
I checked out the Ned's Point beach as a Laser launching site. Although it is certainly possible to launch there, the tiny beach was crowded with sunbathers yesterday and I think that if a group of Laser sailors went to launch there they might have been quite unpopular.
We visited the Shipyard Inn partly because we used to go there quite often when we were house hunting around there 5 years ago. At that time the Inn was under different ownership and called the Kinsale Inn. I can recommend the Blue Burger and Tillerwoman had the beet salad with shrimp. She said it was good but there was too much arugula. If she says there is too much arugula there really is too much arugula. She is a big fan of arugula usually.
You are right. The beer was good. I really did take a nap after writing this post!
Bella and Buzz say "grrr" about the no-dogs-allowed rule, but they're dogs, they'll deal.
I love that they have a lifejacket loan station. Very nice.
BTW, did anyone here know that Tillerman has his very own SAGA? #13 on the list!
Yes. I'd never heard of a "life jacket loaning station" before. Another reason why Mattapoisett doesn't suck!
If pooping dogs are outlawed, only outlaw dogs will poop.
I think it was O-Docker who told me about the first one I'd ever heard of. That was one on the American River in Sacramento. It's such a good idea.
Dogs don't poop in the park. People let dogs poop in the park.
I'll give you my dog poop when you take it from my cold dead hands.
"No dogs", but they sell hot dogs...
Tom Brownell is one of the most capable boat movers on the east coast. He and his family have developed an entire system of yard and over-the-road hydrolic boat trailers for hauling, moving and launching. An amazing man and crew. http://www.brownellsystems.com/staff.html
as it turns out the "chubby" dude is a long time resident, owner of the boat hauling company which his father started after designing the trailers and he has logged more hours on the water than most people reading this blog. show some respect.
The "chubby dude" is Tommy Brownell, owner of Brownell Systems, boat haulers extraordinaire. http://www.brownellsystems.com/
I live on the park where the dogs don't shit and I can tell you it doesn't suck.
My 9 year old son is a harbormaster. http://aboutmattapoisett.com/#28062754293
If you ate lunch on the porch of the Inn on Shipyard Park, you were staring at our home. Knock on the door next time, the beer's cold and free.
Small world Peter. I was staring at a front door all the time I was eating lunch and I think I did take a photo of it too. Almost included it in this post.
