Tillerman, I don't know if I can remember you ever having quite as much fun with one of your own writing projects!

What's black and white and red all over?

LOL.

On a completely other note: Why have you removed us from your blog roll? Too much bikinis, too few boats? /T

Taru, my blogroll is maintained by my pet paranoid android Arvin. I have no control over what he does. I think he uses some complex algorithm based on the number 42 but I don't know if he counts your bikinis or pictures of winch handles or what. I know that he does file all notifications of removal from blogroll in your local blogging permits office in Alpha Centauri, to whom all complaints should also be addressed.

What´this babe got to do with the Beatles?

mmmh, I remember, when the Fab 4, weren´t it five than with Tony Sheridan? stayed in Hamburg to play in the Top Ten for some small moonies, they could have all the babes which we admired...

Have a great long weekend as we do in GER!

Miss Taru is wearing black Fred. That's enough reason to show her delightful pictures to accompany this old Beatles song.

Fred, very interesting that you refer to Hamburg and the time when there were five Beatles because, I don't know if you knew, but this song has its genesis in those days.

It is true that in the early 60's, the Beatles did work occasionally as a back-up band for Tony Sheridan in Hamburg and even recorded some songs with him.

And you are also right, there were five Beatles when they were in Hamburg (not counting Sheridan.) Stuart Sutcliffe was the fifth Beatle along, with John, Paul and George, and the drummer Pete Best. Sutcliffe left the group in July 1961 and died in April 1962 of a brain aneurysm.

And here's the link to "Baby's in Black." Sutcliffe's girlfriend was the German photographer and artist Astrid Kirchherr and she was distraught after Stu's death. Apparently McCartny and Lennon wrote this song about Astrid and her mourning for Stu.

So the original babe in black was German. Taru (the lady in the pictures) is from Finland I believe.

Miss Taru, Arvin has now restored you to my blogroll. I punished him severely for his mistake in deleting you by unplugging him and putting him in a dark closet for three days.
