I'm having visions of the republican convention. Still haven't seen this movie but it's on my list!

even though the movie was filmed (mostly?) down the road a bit from me in Detroit, I still haven't seen it either. on my "to rent" list, though.

so did you post this prior to Clint's speech at the RNC? did you know he was going to be giving a speech, or was this post prompted by something else completely?

I did post this before Clinton Eastwood (that is his real first name by the way) made his "surprise" appearance at the convention, but by the time I posted it the news was out that he would be the surprise.

It is a good movie. This may be the most famous scene from it, but without wanting to spoil it for you, let's just say that Eastwood's character has other dimensions to it too.

I must admit that I thought Eastwood was a strange choice for such a high profile slot at the convention. For a party that is sometimes stereotyped as being the party of angry old white men, but which made a strong effort this week to show that it is making strides to become more diverse than that, choosing an actor mainly famous lately for portraying angry old white men seemed a little "off." Turns out I was more right than I realized!
