Talking of "less is more", I always enjoy drawings by kids who seem to know exactly how to capture the essentials of their subject. This is a drawing of me by my granddaughter, Emily. (The little figure is Emily herself; I am carrying her in my arms.)
Apparently, in Emily's eyes, I have quite a small head and really long arms.

Tillerman- You know what they say about guys with small heads and long arms....
those are FREAK-ishly long arms.
last year, my 8-yr old brought home a school project with a picture that was supposed to be me. the picture wasn't the best part, though - he had written a few sentences about me:
My dad is as fast as a squirrel.
My dad is as strong as a baseball bat and ball.
He is wise as an owl.
kids do the cutest things.
Answer: Small hats and long sleeves
Those aren't arms; those are angel wings, and you're wrapping her up in your wing and making her feel happy.
In other words, you're doing exactly what a grandpa should be doing.
I say submit it for the Turner prize.
You'll need to think up some mumbo jumbo to make it conceptual - how about "Less is more: an child's vision of the ages of humanity and relationship to our damaged environment"
You never know...
When we ask Emily (now 3) what she wants to be when she grows up she says, "An artist.... and a teacher and a doctor and a Mommy."
I see no reason why she can't do it all!
The perfect Laser physique. Long arms and body should be perfect for hiking. And who needs a (big) head to sail a Laser?
