I don't get it - are you complaining that it rained for thirty days? What's the big deal about that :-)

No Gery. Sorry to be so obscure.

Regular readers of this blog (all three of them) know that

a) I have said I will sail my Laser 100 days in 2008 and write a post about each day of sailing. I keep a counter of days sailed in the side panel. You will see that it now stands at 30. Yesterday was my 30th sail. And this was the post about it.

b) I am occasionally moved to poetry on the blog. I've done haiku before. It struck me as convenient that Narragansett Bay is 5 syllables and so a perfect first line for a haiku.

c) I've written before about how difficult it is to find an original way to write a post about a pleasant afternoon's sailing where nothing spectacular or disastrous or funny happened.

d) The three themes - days sailed, haiku and nothing much to say all came together in this post.

Welcome to Proper Course. Don't worry...it's me not you. Even one my three regular readers says he doesn't understand what I'm saying half the time.

Regular readers of this blog (all three of you) will remember that I already did a limerick about Nantucket (down at the end of the post).

If it rained for thirty days in New Mexico, we'd be rejoicing.

Currently, the state has a serious split identity. In the eastern half of the state, we've had high temperatures, extremely low humidity, and high winds, resulting in "red-flag" fire danger warnings. In the western half of the state, we've had record low temperatures, rain, snow (yes, even in late May), and flood warnings.
